PERSONALITY
Eleven is far from any other normal twelve year old girl. Having been raised in a lab and isolated from the world outside, everything is 'alien' to her. The world, the people in it; it's all new and different. Things such as simple words or concepts like 'friends' and 'promises' are foreign to her. Her language is stunted in many ways and her social skills are limited, if not improving slowly the more she's around people her own age. Emotions are complicated for her to understand - both with herself and with other people. She tends to be more immature in her reasoning and quick to upset and mistrust whenever she feels betrayed. With the lack of the right words and no experience to handle so many pitfalls and traps of life, misunderstandings are common problem. With all of this can come explosive bursts of anger or upset, that can be literally explosive. When in situations of emotional distress, fear or other intense emotions, Eleven's powers are often triggered and can come out in destructive ways. These moments can be dangerous and unpredictable, given the sheer power she has in her. She doesn't seek to hurt people in any petty or childish manner just because. She doesn't take things such as death lightly and will only do it to protect herself and others. Self preservation is her true motivator a lot of the time. Despite how simply she can take a life, she seems deeply moral in her own way and takes no joy or pleasure in killing. For her, the powers are just another tool to survive with. Given how she was raised, her instincts are generally to mistrust and suspect people. She still suffers from PTSD from her time in the lab and isn't quite equip to handle this herself, hence why she will often shut down whenever her memories from that time arise. Her exposure up until recent to others has not been positive and she's only just started learning about good people, about trusting and friendship. She isn't shy by any means, she's bold when she has to be, determined and not afraid to explore or approach, even if she's hesitant and skittish at first. Sometimes, in these moments of bravery, we see the girl she could have been if it wasn't for Hawkins labs. Her confidence is still lacking, it's a working progress in many ways. She's not afraid to do what she has to in the world but the world keeps proving to be a constant danger to her. Nothing ever seems safe. Not until she meets Mike and discovers what friendship is. Meeting the boys changes her in so many important ways, she has never had people in her life to get attached to and in them, she found a way to socialise and make the connections she craves. Her friends are everything to her. Once Eleven likes someone, she has proved herself to be loyal, protective and willing to sacrifice even her life for them. We see this when she faces off against the demogorgon at the end of season one, when she was willing to die to ensure her friends stayed safe. That's the kind of person she is. To Eleven, the biggest part of getting to know someone is knowing that she can trust them. Trust is a big deal to her, she was very reliant on other people's trust at the start and now it can really colour her judgement of a person if they can't keep a promise or earn her trust. Understandably, given everything, she has a lot of issues with people and while she struggles to know who is good and bad, she needs those same people to help her make sense of the world and how to be in it. She wants to understand people, to connect and belong, she tries her best but she is a product of where she came from in so many ways and it will always hinder her. Everything has to be learnt and discovered an, in many ways, she's just learning to be herself.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
📼 Telekinesis: This is the ability to exert force on physical objects without touch, capable of moving or influencing them regardless. She is able to move objects or suspend them in mid air. She can move things beyond her own physical strength as well, such as being able to lift a large van into the air. 📼 Biokinesis: This is known as the manipulation of living creatures. The most notable example of Eleven using this power was when she forced Troy to urinate against his will. She also once broke his arm, has broken the necks of the Hawkins lab guards and applied pressure to the brains of several agents during the confrontation at Hawkins Middle School, causing them to bleed from their eyes. 📼 Extrasensory perception: Eleven is capable of gaining information through the mind rather than physical senses. She could recognise people taken into the Upside Down, despise never having meeting them, could sense where Will was in the Upside Down and, to some extent, is capable of transmitting voices and other sounds through electronic speakers. This particular power is strongest while she is in sensory deprivation and floating in water. With this, she could enter the mental void where she can observe people and creatures in different physical locations and even alternate dimensions. This allows her to make contact with them, eavesdrop or remain unseen as she watches. While in the mental void, she is still capable of communication with those around her, With great power comes great side-effects, however and Eleven is not immune to this. These powers take their toll on Eleven, she is known to often suffer nose bleeds and become physically exhausted from the exertion. In more extreme cases, intense actions can cause bruising on her face, her eyes can become bloodshot and/or her ears can bleed. This can even lead to her become unconscious.
